The New Bridgwater Clinic: a step forward for our patients, our staff and the business

Antony Mazzei, Managing Director, Head of Fresenius Medical Care NephroCare UK & Ireland shares the below article on our new Bridgwater clinic. Read his thoughts on what this means for our patients, staff and the business below.

Fresenius Medical Care is an organisation which positions patients as a key priority in all we do. We recently celebrated the 25th anniversary of our business, which started off with just seven clinics. Today, we have fifty clinics across the country. Our network of clinics – and every member of staff that works within them - play a key role in this, ensuring that our patients can rely on us to receive better access to treatment and new technology.

It is without a doubt that the opening of a new clinic is always an exciting time at Fresenius Medical Care UK & Ireland, and we’re pleased to have recently opened a dialysis centre in Bridgwater, Somerset. The positive impact of the clinic opening is three-fold; improving the quality of life for our patients, creating new opportunities for current and new Fresenius Medical Care employees, and growing our network of first-rate dialysis clinics.

For some patients, the process of receiving dialysis can be time-consuming, with many facing long hours travelling every week. The clinic in Bridgwater will considerably reduce this time for some of our Somerset-based patients, and therefore minimise the impact their kidney condition has on their life.

In addition to quality of life, the quality of the care we provide to patients is of the utmost importance to us. At Fresenius Medical Care, we pride ourselves in being a UK-leading treatment provider, ensuring that state of the art technology is being used for our patients to receive the best possible care. The new clinic offers twelve dialysis stations in total, all using innovative technology, providing access to forty eight patients at a time; new consultancy rooms, private rooms, as well as access to free TV and Wi-Fi to ensure patients are as comfortable as possible during their time under our care.

Moreover, the opening of the Bridgewater clinic has created new career opportunities in the region, giving renal care specialists and those who want to start their careers in the field a chance to work with the latest technology and modern features offered by our clinics. Hiring dedicated, diligent, and passionate staff helps us deliver high quality and reliable patient care. By recruiting the right people, we build up trust with our patients and partners, and the NHS feels confident in our ability to effectively manage patients.

I’d like to extend a warm welcome to the new nursing staff at Bridgwater and thank those involved in the preparation of the opening of the clinic – it is only possible as a result of the commitment from the staff who live our values, with our vision in focus. I believe great things will come from the Bridgwater clinic, for our patients, staff and business prospects.
